I was originally given a copy of this show by a friend whowas there. I played my copies to death, literallly. they were so scracthed from use that they would no longer play. I never looked at a setlist for this show so was suprised to find that my copy was actually missing a couple of songs, now I have the full show and a better quality copy than I had before. The sound is amazing and the show is epic. Its a melding of talent that only happens once in awhile, almost what I would call a spiritual experience. Thanks Phil, Trey, Page, Steve, & john for this beautiful creation.

Subject: The Phish/Dead comparisons
Subject: The Phish/Dead comparisons
In response to Newdea1's comments:
One of the many cool things that happened during this epic Warfield run was that the Jerry/Trey and Dead/Phish comparisons really got laid to rest. The Phish kids realized that Grateful Dead music was alive and progressive and the Deadheads realized that Phish was the real deal. It just slapped you right in your melted face. Not like none of us didn't know these things before, but the nay-sayers in both camps we're all blown away by these shows as well. It was a really cool moment. Less: 'passing of the tortch' and more: 'let's start a bonfire!'
ESSENTIAL!

For us Phish kids back in 1999, getting the chance to hear Trey and Page play and sing an entire set of Dead tunes was like a wild fantasy that would never happen. My jaw hit the floor when I heard the tapes. I still get shivers hearing Trey sing these songs. Kimock and Molo are amazing as usual, and Phil, well, Phil's the fu*king man. I agree with many of the posters here that this is with out a doubt one of, if not THE finest example of post-Garcia Grateful Dead music.

Subject: the only way to post-dead your dead
In complete honesty, this is the only post-jerry GD concoction i repeatedly come back to. Every once in a while i dL a show i attended, but never do i spin it more than once. This is different. This is magic. With talk of the 2009 dead tour all i can say is: the boys should give this a listen to remember how old dead songs can jam with new energy, intricacy, and intrigue. They should also consider getting a guitarist who carries on jerry's tradition for thoughtful, melodic exploration, not just tried and tired rock/blues riffing (i.e. not larry campbell).

Certainly one of the best examples of life after dead that I've ever heard...not the only one, but one of the best. I agree with an earlier post...this show had me at franklin's, and never let go.

as much as i would love this ensemble to get back together, I don't think this magic could ever be re-created. considering the circumstances with phils health and coming back with so much love in the air, trey in peak form, kimock and phil without any animosity, there were plenty of factors that went into making this run the best post-dead shows. help>slip>franklins EPIC, the first minute of wish u were here have u heard a melody so emotionally profound? everything here is top notch.

Hey, I think the Trey/Jerry comparison has gone on for so long that it borders on the ridiculous! Isn't about the spirit of the music?! This music has the spirit! I was there in SF when the dead played night after night in the 60 and 70's . . . you could call me an old timer! Whatever . . . it don't make no never mind. This band, on this night, captures the spirit. I love this show. Forget the comparisons, if you love great music, you can't go wrong here. This is worth paying for! Not a bad note throughout the show. Download, turn it up, and ENJOY!

Don't know how I overlooked this show for so long. The comments in the recent PL& F w/Trey show in Glen Falls (10/20/07)led me here. Í'd been listening to it to try and catch the buzz, trying to get what all the positive reviews were about, but struggling and finally concluding that maybe you just had to be there, much preferring 3 other shows I had DL'd from the Fall '07 tour. This show though, wow!!,,,the space in the music, something very much missing from the above mentioned show, is gorgeous and the beautiful interplay between them all unfolds so naturally. Maybe it's because Phish were so on top of their game then, that Page & Trey fit in so effortlessly here, like they'd been playing with Phil for years. Can't say enough good, so I'll quit rambling. Download & enjoy!

I just got this show and can't stop listening to it. The number of people that mix it up is just ridiculous. I just finished Phil's book and can't get enough of him and the rest of the boys. Throw Trey, Page, and Kimmock in there, insane. One of the best shows I've heard in a long time....you definately need to get this one.

What do you think is going to happen when you put Phil, Trey, Page, and Kimmock on the same stage?
Most say they like 17th better, I say not so fast. When that Franklin's get's rollin, you're either on board or left behind, permanently.
Trey and Mike should seriously consider returning to P&F and we can get this party started again.
